Clean and Shiny Kitchen Floor (My Dirty Little Secret)

Want to know my secret to a Clean and Shiny Floor?

I absolutely LOVE my clean and shiny kitchen floor now, but that has NOT always been the case. This linoleum was installed in 1993… count-’em baby: that’s 24 years and still going strong! And yes, I used my calculator to double check. 🙂

Just LOOK at that shine… I LOVE my not-new-at-all kitchen floor!!! ~All4Fun Cakes

It was a much needed improvement over the mosaic pattern of dark brown, putrid orange, and super-puke gold… all of those lovely (NOT) colors from the 70’s. If ever I need a reminder of just how gross those colors were, all I have to do is visit my exercise room.

We ripped out the super-nasty-pea green-soup carpet years ago, and this was underneath. You can tell how much use this room gets from the lack of wear and tear LOL.

Our “Exercise Room” floor… You can probably tell that I don’t use this room very much LOL 🙂

I won’t show you the whole room because it also serves as our storage area and it is soooooooooooooooo not organized!!! But that’s a project for another day…

Anywhoo… Back to my clean and shiny kitchen floor!

When I decided to turn my cake-hobby into a home-based custom cake business, I knew there were some things in my home that would need to be addressed so that I could apply for a domestic home kitchen license.

I love my kitchen as-is and wouldn’t change a thing (my hubby and I built it ourselves 20 years ago, and everything was replaced except the flooring).

I converted the dining room into my “Cake Room.” Maybe I’ll show you pics of that another time, but I mustn’t get distracted from today’s mission: sharing the secret to my clean and shiny kitchen floor.

Remodel, Replace or Restore…?

My two biggest projects were remodeling our breakfast/family room area off the kitchen into an actual dining room (’cause you gotta have a place to eat), and doing SOMETHING with my poor, dull, dilapidated, scratched-up, can’t-keep-it-clean-no-matter-what-I-do kitchen floor.

I replaced my old and dated floral wallpaper with a new paintable wallpaper. The stucco pattern is really cool, and since our house always feels so dark, I painted everything WHITE!

Yes, I said white and I mean WHITE! But I did give it a big splash of color, one that I can literally sit in front of and feel myself relaxing as I stare at it for long periods of time. Sigh…

I’m very happy with how it turned out. 🙂 Whatcha think?

OMG!!! I can literally sit here and sink into this view all day… (insert sigh)

So that left the project I was totally dreading… the kitchen floor.

I REALLY did not want to replace it, because the linoleum stretches from the cake room, through the kitchen and new dining area, all the way back to the bedrooms, plus a section that cuts across the living room to the front door. Basically 25-30% of our house. Lots of square footage, and I really didn’t want the expense if I could help it. So I started to research…

And research…

And research some more…

I researched until my eyes started to bleed (okay maybe that’s a slight exaggeration).

I looked at so many products and read oodles upon oodles of reviews. But nothing, and I mean NOTHING sounded like it would help my floor. 🙁

And then it happened…

I don’t even know how I found it, but I really don’t care – because one day I opened up my Amazon app and… BAM!!!

There it was… it was kinda like love at first sight. Something in me just KNEW that this was it. Of course, being the skeptic I am, my next thought was: “Surely this is too good to be true?!?!”

So I read the reviews on Amazon, then I googled it to see what the rest of the world had to say. Guess what I found? EVERYONE who had used this product and written a review was totally blown away by how great it worked!

So with nothing to lose (except $19.99 with 2-Day free Prime Shipping), I ordered my very first bottle of liquid love, and I will NEVER go back!
